Corporate fraud remains a significant and often underreported risk for businesses, with organisations estimated to lose 5% of their revenue to fraud each year.
As part of International Fraud Awareness Week 2026, The Malta Chamber, in collaboration with Forvis Mazars, and with the support of Camilleri Preziosi Advocates and BMIT Technologies, is hosting a virtual roundtable focused on corporate fraud and the challenges organisations face in preventing, detecting and responding to it.
The session will look beyond the act of fraud itself to consider what drives fraudulent behaviour, the warning signs that may be overlooked and the organisational weaknesses that create opportunities for fraud. It will also explore the role of effective governance, internal controls and accountability in reducing fraud risk and supporting early detection.
Drawing on forensic and legal perspectives, the panel will address the practical realities of investigating and managing suspected fraud, including incident response and the legal and regulatory considerations that may arise.
Key discussion points will include:
• Identifying and understanding the fraudster, including motivations, behaviours and warning signs
• How fraud is enabled, including common weaknesses, traits and organisational pitfalls
• Effective fraud detection techniques and early warning indicators
• Responding to and managing suspected fraud incidents
• Strengthening governance, internal controls and accountability
• Practical lessons learned from fraud investigations and risk assessments
• Legal and regulatory considerations in preventing, investigating and responding to fraud
Who should attend:
• Business owners, directors and senior management
• Finance and accounting professionals
• Internal and external auditors
• Risk and compliance professionals
