Scope: The overall goal is to achieve more energy and water efficiency projects being implemented by businesses, resulting in measurable financial savings for businesses and measurable CO2 reductions emissions as per Malta’s carbon neutrality vision for 2050.

Objectives:

  • To achieve more energy audits carried out by SMEs through the EWA SME energy audit scheme;
  • To achieve more energy and water efficiency projects that businesses can carry out with their own financial and human resources
  • To achieve more energy and water efficiency projects that businesses require external support for, through the identification of support which can address implementation barriers;
  • To achieve more R&D&I project implementation by businesses;
  • To increase the number of EEPI signatories;
  • To integrate the Maltese business sectors in EU projects through direct (business beneficiary) or indirect (businesses targeted by Maltese entity beneficiaries) project involvement.

30 August 2021 – Project Launch

The Malta Chamber, together with Malta Business Bureau and the Energy & Water Agency, signed an MOU to work towards achieving a higher level of engagement on energy and water conservation and efficiency, including a higher rate of implementation of energy and water efficiency-related projects by businesses.


15 February 2022 – Energy and Water Financing Measures webinar

An online session to provide vital information about the different financing options while pairing company project ideas with the most relevant schemes.


04 April 2022 – Industrial Energy and Water Research webinar

The webinar focused on providing RDI funding opportunities for local businesses in relation to energy and water research.


27 June 2022 – Energy Efficiency in Practice webinar

The webinar explored leading energy efficiency solutions using case studies from Baxter, De La Rue & the University of Malta.


04 October 2022 – Heating and Cooling in Manufacturing site visit

Heating & cooling are essential components of a manufacturing company’s operations and contribute significantly to its energy bills. TOLY Products Ltd offered to host this WE MAKE event at its premises, and offered a site visit to showcase its heating and cooling innovations.


18 January 2023 – Energy Management in Manufacturing webinar

Through energy monitoring, manufacturing companies can maintain more control over their cost base, monitor where improvements can be made, and plan strategically. This webinar offered attendees best practices and real life examples.


05 July 2023 – A glimpse at the new skills on the market webinar

As manufacturing companies in Malta face a skills shortage, there has never been a better time to bridge students with industry. Through this online event, leading students at MCAST and the University of Malta presented their relevant projects to business.
